2002’s Icol Diston compilation on the DIN label was something like a victory lap by German producer Uwe Zahn for his Arovane alias. Comprised of three short run EPs, Icol Diston seeked to keep momentum going after the success of the Arovane LPs Atol Scrap and Tides by looking back at his earliest material. It’s also the logical final step in Keplar’s early Arovane reissue campaign, one again putting these paradigm-shifting tracks back into circulation. Written largely while in transit across the city of Berlin, the music across this comp is certainly experimental in nature, but it all seems to push forward with a similar sense of purpose and immediacy.
