The seminal album from Arovane that preceded his decade-long hiatus, Lilies receives its first reissue in almost 20 years. Constructed during a trip to Japan, Lilies is an immersive and emotional swansong, releasing steam with the quivering strings and traipsing harpsichord plucks on ‘Ten Hours’ before ‘Windy Wish Trees’ cuts through with hyperventilating drums and the dissonant chords of monolithic rhodes. The duo of ‘Pink Lilies’ and ‘Lilies’ feature scintillating arrays of harp plucks and synth glitters, and patient yet pneumatic breaks erupt on ‘Tokyo Ghost Stories’ while careful piano flourishes creep around them.
