Delivering two more cuts of splintered Icelandic desolation, Olafur Arnalds gives us a meditative grower in Endalaus II then an equally plaintive composition in the vacant sounding For Teda. Arnalds’ music always triumphs when he places every speck of the arrangement in it’s perfect place. These two songs are a perfect demonstration of that innate skill, the pulsating synthesised hum that rumbles beneath the piano on For Teda or the fenced off strings that break through on Endalaus II, this is Olafur Arnalds creating one of his most gorgeous and breath-taking atmospheres.
