The ninth edition of Tempa’s ‘Dubstep Allstars’ CD compilation lands, with two of the genre’s most defining names at the controls. It’s an interesting mix to get hold of, not least because it represents a sound in a permanent state of flux – a snapshot of a sub-culture that arrived with its first instalment back in 2004. Silkie and Quest get to work on their hybrid sound that hears jazz, grime and soul music seeping in amongst the heavy subs. As well as their own productions there are contributions from the likes of Mala, Skream, Swindle and L Wiz.
