Scottish producer Jordan Stanley makes his Bytes debut with a new LP entitled A Cry For The Moon. Stanley charts music that’s equally functional in the club and a video game soundtrack. Built up from tiny samples of pop music so distorted as to erase their identity, Stanley uses these tools to recreate classic dance tropes with a modernist twist that steps outside the usual overcooked sound design. Tracks like ‘Another Can To Hide Behind’ and ‘Fascination’ sound like approximate takes on Jersey club and glitch techno, but Stanley comes at them from thrillingly odd angles, and uncovers something else entirely in the process.
