To coincide with Kai Campos’ worldwide DJ tour, Warp are happy to announce the release of two remixes of track’s from Kai’s City Planning album by Detroit electronic pioneers Robert Hood and DJ Stingray.

Robert Hood’s approach and early work in minimal techno formed a huge inspiration to Kai when conceptualizing and crafting his City Planning album. DJ Stingray is also someone that Kai has admired and played alongside for many years, most recently at Munich’s Blitz club.

Robert Hood’s take on City Limits is an ode to summer festivals, a big hitter with a huge building crescendo. On the other side, DJ Stingray’s remix is a crash, bang of a tune evoking his signature dark Detroit electronics and huge face smacking techno tinged high hats. A brilliant contrast that showcases Kai’s breadth of influence.

Speaking about the remixes, Kai adds: "I’m honoured to have had Robert Hood remix Zone 3 from City Planning. His records, Internal Empire in particular, had a big influence on the album and so very pleased to share his interpretation".

Kai has been busy filling dancefloors around the world playing out his ever evolving DJ and hardware set, catch him at the dates below.

City Planning is one half of MK 3.5, Mount Kimbie’s latest album which was released in November. To celebrate the release, Mount Kimbie held a series of IRL events and art exhibitions including Die Cuts by Tyrone Lebon at Freize Gallery, London, and Tom Shannon’s Four World installation in St Gilles Square, London which unfortunately was destroyed in an unforecast storm. The artwork for these remixes features the short-lived sculpture, an ode to what could have been.
