Andrzej Zulawski’s debut feature film, ‘The Third Part of the Night’ took its 1972 audience by surprise with a general response of shock and awe, no doubt buoyed on by its apocalyptic visions of horror and hysteria, and Andrzej Korzynski’s nightmarishly electric score. Perfectly capturing the trippy magnitude of the film, Korzynski’s score is a guitar-driven piece of heavy psych-rock, bursting through in conceptual freefall with intense suspense. The work that marks a footing for a creative relationship between Zulawski and Korzynski to rival the likes of Dario Argento and Goblin.
