FAY is the solo project of Fay Davis-Jeffers, at work here on her debut album for Time No Place. With ‘DIN’, Davis-Jeffers deconstructs the raw components of R&B music and proceeds to meld them back together with experimental nerve. They fall back into place, disjointed amongst a complex arrangement of coiling polyrhythms with a bodysonic sense of rhythmic tension sometimes reminiscent of Timbaland productions, yet equally as inspired by the sounds of traditional forms of world music. Fully recommended.
