Old Apparatus reveal their own homegrown label, Sullen Tone, inaugurating its arrival with initial EP, ‘Derren’. With previous releases on Mala’s Deep Medi imprint in the bag, their reputation looms large. Expanding on their carnal vision of inhuman bass driven music set out in their previous works, the collective entice further abstractions with unusually folky guitar figures, glacial synths, pitch shifting female vocals, otherworldly melodic tones and deep and dramatic sub bass intensity.
