Recondite made his debut on the Ghostly International in 2013 with Hinterland, built up from field recordings made in southeastern Germany. The Berlin-based producer sought to capture the sound and feeling of his native Bavaria across these tracks, marking this album as a sort of homecoming. Hinterland also feels like a culmination, bearing traces of his more dancefloor-oriented earlier work, and the more cerebral tracks of late with a soft cushioning parsed between the two via those lush natural sounds.
