London producer Kouslin is back on Livity Sound with a new EP entitled Patterns. Following up his 2020 Visions EP for Livity, Kouslin returns to a similar rubbery mood, bouncing around different genre stylings and motifs while maintaining a cohesive sense of purpose. The broken beat of ‘Five Four’ thrillingly plays like a techno track tripping over itself repeatedly until you realise the locked-in groove for what it is after a mid track breakdown. Meanwhile the punchy dancehall thud of ‘King’ borrows plenty from techno as well with it’s acidic synth squiggles and chugging hi hats.
