The Dominican-born and Berlin-based musician Paul St. Hilaire has cut an interesting path in the electronic music world. A renowned session player and vocalist, Hilaire has been popping up on cuts from legends of the sphere for over 3 decades, from his initial groundbreaking collaborations with Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus on their indelible Rhythm & Sound project as well as Mr. Fingers, Modeselektor, The Bug, Deadbeat and many more. Hilaire has also been quietly amassing a small fortune of original compositions and productions under his name that span from ambient to jazz to techno and back. Tikiman Vol. 1 is Hilaire’s first attempt at cataloguing this vast collection, and tracks like the dancehall-tinged ‘Keep Safe’ and the oozing techno of ‘Ten To One’ make you wonder what took him so long.
