Born from a community of cassette tape traders, 7Ai9 compiles electronic experiments with a DIY punk ethos presented by longtime record collector Piitu Lintunen. From jet engine noise to quaint ambient soundscapes and distorted piano solos, 7Ai9 captures Finnish electronic scenes of the 80s while mixing in tracks from contemporary artists. ‘Hecate’s Swaying Garden’ is a mysterious and immersive landscape of howling wind and downtempo flourishes, flipped by the healing salve of its idyllic twin ‘Magick Garden Rebirthed’. Jimi Tenor adds a labyrinthine electronica groove on ‘Ainon kyynel’, along with colourful, swirling techno glitters on Pekka Airaksinen’s ‘Untitled’.
