London cellist/producer Oliver Coates’ stirring score and soundtrack work for Charlotte Wells’ acclaimed film Aftersun is finally coming to vinyl via INVADA Records. A complicated, but ultimately hopeful work ostensibly about memories, Coates’ sound design here equally plays with nostalgia and relief. The album’s second track ‘One Without’ has reportedly captivated audiences enough to keep them in their seats for its appearance during the end credits. It similarly steals the show here, with a transcendent cello line that seems to pull in the gravity of everything around it. The rest of the OST does not slouch either, making for a functional film accompaniment and a fruitful headphone listen all the same.
