Australian experimental troupe The Necks return to the Northern Spy for their nineteenth LP with the well-earned title Travel. Largely the fruits of a self-imposed daily studio improvisation routine, Travel finds The Necks communicating musically in ways that could basically be deemed telepathic. As close a document to their renowned live show as they’ve managed to achieve thus far, Travel was almost entirely together with minimal overdubs and then sequenced into four breathable sections that allow the listener to choose their own sort of adventure. It also stands among their most vibrant recordings to date.
