Berlin techno producer buttechno lands on the AD 93 label for the first time under his own name for a compilation of harsh, but emotionally resonant synth loops that date from 2016 to 2021. project mirrors is Milyakov’s first new work since cutting ties with Moscow label Gost Zvuk, and these sparse workouts feel something like a creative rebirth as a result, while still retaining his signature craft. The airy ‘202 days of summer’ nearly reaches for festival trance banger status, but cuts itself off at knees withouts drums or low end of any kind, giving off an appealing alien vibe, while ‘august gtr’ and its arpeggiated synth chords approximate the symphonic sweep of shoegaze in miniature.
