The only album to Walter Wegmüller’s name, Tarot is the highly sought after and revered 1973 krautrock odyssey through the Major Arcana, now remastered and rereleased in all its esoteric glory. Paid tribute to by the legendary Andrew Weatherall in his 2017 album Qualia. Tarot sits at a musical confluence between the members of Ash Ra Tempel and The Cosmic Jokers, with Wegmüller’s spoken word charting a path through sharp-toothed funk and prog, and the otherworldly signals of experimental space rock. These kaleidoscopic scenes move from folk-inflected baroque tapestries, to mysterious organ-led mists, and thrilling races between guitar, bass, and drums, with magic hidden in each story told.
