With his latest single for Leaving Records, revered multi-hyphenate Carlos Niño acts as a conduit for all his jazz influences and many collaborators in his Carlos Niño & Friends project. ‘Bioluminescence’ is a jazz epic, fading in with sparkling water sounds and enveloping, healing textures, conjuring idyllic scenes with its heartwarming flutters of harpsichord, soaring angelic vocals, and natural sound roaming throughout. Appended to the dense sonic tapestry is ‘Sounds like memory . . .’, a more active side of the coin with morphing arrangements and a bombastic drum solo charging throughout.
