Ramona Gonzalez' work as the addictive Nite Jewel has come a long way since her 2008 debut 'Good Evening' album. From listening to her latest long player, 'One Second of Love', her signature 80's lo-fi pop aesthetic seems to have matured. Gone are the moments that charmingly fumble in wrong-footing, and in its place are hi-fi, crystalline sounds that bask in slicker notes of production and glossy vocal work. But fans of Nite Jewel's nascent days need not feel left out; the drum work, off-key chords and soft drones still sound like Nite Jewel through and through.
