New York's L.I.E.S. has collected strays and other ephemera from the early era of underrated British industrial group JFK for this new compilation entitled Tape Archives 86-88. Culled from cassette release on Broken Flag as well as several previously lost tracks, Tape Archives pulls sounds from the usual synths and drum machines of the era, but also electric razors, washing machines, and aerosol cans to build its mucky brilliance. Tracks like ‘FEEL THE WEIGHT’ and ‘SUNSET SMILES’ point to a cold future ahead even decades on from their original recording.
