A rising star of the scene around LA venue The Low End Theory - famed for launching artists like Flying Lotus - Sudan Archives follows up her eponymous 2017 debut with a second EP for Stones Throw. Producing, playing and writing everything here, Sudan Archives proves herself to be an inspired arranger and songwriter across the six tracks of Sink. While she takes her music to some far-out places - her manipulation of her violin playing is particularly striking - she also manages to keep her tracks very well-structured. It makes for a record of powerful, futuristic r ‘n’ b that recalls everyone from Solange to Matthewdavid.
