LA-based beat-maker Mndsgn makes his debut on the excellent Stones Throw Records with his cerebral LP Yawn Zen. As with the productions on Fresh Selects, Yawn Zen exhibits the producer’s loose, psychedelic beats that seep with the influence of the legendary producers J Dilla and Madlib. The woozy ‘Txt (MSGS)’ lays down an array of electric quarks over a blissed-out, lush tapestry that’s rich in jazzy tones. Faithful disciples of Nosaj Thing, Flying Lotus or any of the Brainfeeder crew should take note.
