The pianist and producer outdoes himself with his second LP, When There’s Love Around, a gorgeous blend between the smoothest jazz you can find and a hardened hip-hop sensibility. The likes of ‘curly’ and ‘I remember this picture’ are vibes made almost material, big billowy clouds of impossibly fresh tones. The competition for Stones Throw Records’ coolest cat is a tough one, but surely Kiefer is a formidable contender.
