Known for his work as producer and collaborator alongside experimentalists and megastars alike — from Bat for Lashes and Connan Mockasin to Harry Styles and Solange — pianist and composer John Carroll Kirby debuts his singular blend of soulful spirit and languid textures with My Garden. No amount of listed co-conspirators such as those above can anticipate just how My Garden sounds, however — equal parts eminently listenable jazz (smooth, almost on the Hancock-alike ‘Blueberry Beads’), intimate and shimmering synth-tone poems (‘Wind’ and ‘By The Sea’), and 1980s ‘Fourth World’-recollecting lusciousness (‘Humid Mood’, ‘Son Of Pucabufeo’).
