A highlight in what was a most fruitful year in music, Mogwai's 1997 opus Mogwai Young Team is seeing a remastered reissue at long last. Originally recorded at what would emerge as Chemikal Underground's house studio Chem19, manning the boards was label head and The Delgado's drummer Paul Savage who has also handled the new remastering of the original tracks. By the band's own recollection their recording sessions for Mogwai Young Team were "turbulent, disorganised and hastily mixed" perhaps the impetus behind some of the most crushing riffs the Glaswegian unit has laid to tape. Coalescing in the absolutely monolithic Like Herod and long time fan favourites such as the extended 16 minute trip, Mogwai Fear Satan, their debut full length would set them on a trajectory to a Number 1 album in 2021 and take the band into its 28th year in 2023.
