Patti Smith and Soundwalk Collective’s Perfect Vision Reworkings project is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Three full length albums of work each inspired by a distinct French poet (Antonin Artaud, Arthur Rimbaud, and René Daumal, respectively), each work was also recorded in remote lands to fully capture the adventurous spirit of the proceedings. Mexico (The Peyote Dance), Ethiopia (Mummer Love), and the Indian Himalayas (Peradam) all factor into the music as much, if not more so than the players themselves. Bella Union has also collected a series of remixes from fellow travelers like Brian Eno, Laaraji, and Jim Jarmusch as part of this special box set reissue to help take this tale even further.
