With her first EP for Castles in Space, Fijian-British multimedia artist Kayla Painter crystallises a sci fi obsession that has followed her music up to this point. Infinite You explores vast abstract beat landscapes, at times idyllic and flourishing with warmth, and at others journeying into spatial and temporal unknowns. A synthetic thread unspools on ‘Quantum Superposition’, leading to a dramatic storm of glitchy shimmers. Meanwhile, on the title track, softly billowing waves of piano chords paint a more luscious and intimate picture.
