The work of the German duo, Porter Ricks, made up of Andy Mellwig and Thomas Koner, is treated to a timely rerelease on Type Records. The pair's technical backgrounds in sound and mastering engineering respectively makes for an album steeped in complex atmospherics and textures - intricacies that only two people who truly understand the nature and minute workings of sound could create. Originally released in 1998, 'Biokinetics' collected together new material at the time, along with the duo's first three EPs, released on Basic Channel's sub-label, Chain Reaction. Classic sub-aquatic techno thankfully brought back to remind us a thing or two.
