'Vantaa', Vladislav Delay's tenth album and his first release on Raster-Noton shows the beginning of a long awaited collaboration between the electronic pioneer Sasu Ripatti and the ever astounding record label. His dense and complex rhythms are woven together so tightly a haze of sound is created, with textures and tones arising and decaying creating a reverberant shimmer of early Basic Channel and Chain Reaction. The vast and desolate Finnish landscape is evoked with details that conjure up the sonic memory of crackling wood and ice cold rivers, while a more bleak industrial world is also present with moments of driving digital distortion. This is an incredible album that can be summed up by the few words embossed in the exquisitely packaged CD - 'Made Under Midnight Sun'.
