In terms of what it has done for laying down the foundations for the global onslaught of footwork and all its close-minded incarnations, 2010's 'Bangs & Works Volume 1 (A Chicago Footwork Compilation)' perhaps stands as one of the most important releases of the last year. Laid bare in all its frenetic glory, Mike Paradinas and co. turned the electronic massive onto this hyper form of dance floor innovation and since then the world has gone mad for all things juke, footwork and ghetto, presenting it in its most raw form from the likes of DJ Spinn and DJ Rashad and adjusting it in to new adaptations from the likes of Kuedo and Machinedrum. Volume 2 starts off exactly where Volume 1 left off, snapping rabidly at the heels of the dance floor community, it brings the focus back onto Chicago's very own native producers and delves into a wider landscape of sounds and influences from the likes of soul, hip hop, techno and er, long forgotten euro-pop songs.
