Second long-playing outing by Daniel Lopatin operating in more idiosyncratic, Oneohtrix Point Never, mode. Curiously, 'Replica' is an album of sample-based tracks that have a leaning towards the opiated, electro-boogie of his alternate production guise, Ford & Lopatin, but OPN's signature, amorphous and ambient touches are very present. Less a composition born from his dedication to his beloved Juno-60 synthesizer (that gave character to his debut, 'Returnal' on eMego), the music of 'Replica' is fashioned from a wider span of instruments, machines and techniques such as sampling, analog filtering, tape manipulation, acoustic piano and plate reverb units. And the result? Another, evolved, compelling listening experience.
