After Nyege Nyege Tapes’ acclaimed Sounds of Pamoja compilation put the warp speed sound of Tanzanian electronic music dubbed Singeli Sound on the map, NTS Radio commissioned a mini-documentary to further explore the buzzing new sound in dance. This new EP produced by figureheads DUKE and DJ Sisso acts as a de-facto soundtrack to the doc while also showcasing the increasing capacity of the singeli scene. The aggro ‘AMKA’ sounds like a soundsystem battle with 4 different crews playing at once, while the syncopated rhythms on the closing ‘Naikoki’ could easily trip up any kind of stepper.
