Legendary producers COH and Abul Mogard join forces for a collaborative LP on Houndstooth entitled (fittingly) COH Meets Abul Mogard. After first crossing paths at a 2019 Slovenian festival, the duo began piecing together this music from recordings done both in Stockholm and at Mogard’s home studio. Meets Abul Mogard is also the first release after Mogard revealed himself to in fact be the Italian electronica maestro Guido Zen. With the veil of anonymity removed, listeners can focus instead on the lush sounds these two conducted over time with little more than a Buchla and a Serge Modular. Tracks like the nearly 11 minute suite ‘Traverse Within’ pays tribute to their avant garde bonafides while nodding to pure pop perfection with its thrilling, earworm synth lines.
