Following his tape inspired 2021 album Teliffusion, Chris Sharp returns to his Concretism project with an EP turning down a dark and even more conceptual road. The Thetford Beast imagines a menacing sound and story to the folklore surrounding Norfolk’s Thetford Forest, structured like a “children’s Listen-Along mystery book” as Concretism’s sci-fi synthwave takes on an eerie quality. Arrays of retro synths come together in a grand and theatrical fashion, playing under cover of night in the dazzling and mystifying ‘Incident on the A1075’, and traipsing through ‘Contact Ritual’ with discordant spells and ominous bell chimes.
