50 years after their departure from Throbbing Gristle is as good a time as any to revisit the beguiling catalogue of Chris Carter & Cosey Fanni Tutti. While the duo’s early experiments certainly bear fruit, some could say Chris & Cosey really came into power during their mid 80’s-early 90’s minimalist era. This new set of reissues on their own Conspiracy International imprint circles seeks to highlight that very point. The Remastered Reissues ‘85 - ’91 series begins with the 1985 Rough Trade LP Techno Primitiv. While populated with many of the en vogue synth-pop sounds of the era, Chris & Cosey (as always) use these tools to subvert and provoke, playing up the haunting dread implicated by the cold precision of their machinery.
