'Oramics' documents the pioneering work of the composer and electronic artist, Daphne Oram, founder of the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop and the illustrious mind behind the 'Oramics' system - a synthesizer formed around a drawn sounds technique in which 35mm film acts as the base for music to be drawn onto. The machine then reads these graphics as differences in light and interprets the harmonic content of the sound wave. All tracks are from the post BBC era 1958-1977 and recorded in her home studio Tower Folly, Kent in which she installed her 'Oramics Studios for Electronic Composition'. A truly remarkable concept from a truly remarkable woman.
