Back on The Leaf Label since 2019’s More Arriving, Sarathy Korwar presents a total feast of worldly sounds with KALAK. Created and produced largely with Photay, KALAK explores spirituality, politics, and community as an “Indo-futurist manifesto”, rooted in South Asian culture and delivered in a masterful combination of folk instruments, jazz inflections, and techno beats. The driving beat of ‘Utopia Is A Colonial Project’ is powered by tribal drums and electrified rhythms smashed into a million pieces, with huge saxophone hits fuelling the engine onwards.

  • Each format features a different cover image with photography by Fabrice Bourgelle.
  • All formats include an 8-page booklet, created by Sijya Gupta, with Korwar’s notes on the concepts behind the project.
