French producer Roméo Poirier returns to the Faitiche label for his third full length entitled Living Room. Poirier builds this music from an ever-expanding collection of personal loops, often sampling himself from prior recordings to create new music out of his own older efforts. Largely recorded at home with special waterproof equipment in his bathtub, Living Room betrays a certain intimacy in its close mic’d feeling, with tempos that rock like a ship on the sea. The record also features some vocal samples culled from his father’s sample collection as well, though they too are stretched and pulled until the meaning is lost, just another piece in Poirier’s evocative collage of sound.
