Legendary Manchester post-punk group A Certain Ratio continues their recent career resurgence with a new LP for Mute entitled 1982. Despite the title, the album is far from a trip down memory lane. Dabbling in afrobeat, jazz, synth-pop, and more straight ahead UK dance while still maintaining their signature blend of hook-y instrumental interplay, A Certain Ratio continue to push the boundaries of their sound well into their fifth decade as a unit. Tracks like the rocksteady ‘A Trip In Hulme’ and the downright funky ‘Constant Curve’ plough ahead with improbably youthful energy.
