The legendary drone trio Emeralds are reissuing their first official LP Solar Bridge for the first time since its 2008 release. Already underground heroes for their stoned-but-virtuosic take on the sort of DIY modular electronic music that took root in the midwest, 2008 was something of a coming out year for Emeralds. With a sound that pulled as much from kosmiche as it did industrial noise, the band became something of a experimental fest mainstay, and naturally progressed from the insane sprawl of their digital/homespun cdr output phase to Solar Bridge’s more traditional rollout on Aaron Dilloway’s Hanson label. That stasis is reflected in the music, as it represented their most focused and refined material yet. Included in this special reissue from Ghostly International is a bonus digital download of the previously unreleased ‘Photospehere’ which hangs well with the record’s prior 26 minutes of bliss.
