Following two tapes for Belgian label Dauw and releases on AD 93 and Spirituals, Dylan Henner returns with a new outlook as Flutes of Forgotten Sands traces his first steps into fatherhood. At times icy like frozen stalactites, at others full of warmth but always bursting with colour, Henner makes each block of wood sing in these extended pieces for marimba. Distant notes blend in with birdsong as the natural orchestra chirps around endlessly climbing, beauteous swells. Sonorous marimba is met with soft ambient tones, playful tape effects, and backing vocals capturing the joy of life.
