Though he’s only 23, NYC MC Wiki has more than cut his teeth at this point. His debut solo LP, out via XL, combines the New York roughness that characterised the stuff he did in Ratking with the cheeky-rappy-chappy vibe of his 2015 mixtape Lil Me. Always one to doff his cap to his roots, Wiki has made an album here that celebrates his native Manhattan in word, sound and vibe. Tracks like ‘Mayor’ and ‘Litt 15’ burst at the seams with that rugged, bombastic charm that has been a trait of so much of the Big Apple’s best music down the years. ‘Pretty Bull’ sees him shout out Mykki Blanco, and guests from near and far - Ghostface Killah, Sporting Life, Your Old Droog to name but three - make No Mountains in Manhattan the NYC celebration it should be.
