As Baltimore’s premiere experimental duo, Matmos know a thing or two about conceptual work. M.C. Schmdit and Drew Daniel have crafted gold from such (seemingly) bizarre rules like recording entirely with pieces of plastic, using only sounds captured from a washing machine, and forcing 99 collaborators to record sketches at exactly 99 BPM. This time around though, they are the ones stuck within a box. Regards/Uklony dla Boguslaw Schaeffer sees them expanding upon the earliest works of Polish electronic composer Boguslaw Schaeffer to create an entirely new work. Part remix album, part art installation (in collaboration with the Instytutu Adama Mickiewicza), Regards is both a nod to the 60’s avant-garde movement and yet another futuristic step forward for Matmos.
