The latest discovery by renowned Manchester based imprint Gondwana Records is the post-jazz group Forgiveness. A trio of well-accomplished musicians including Jack Wyllie from Portico Quartet, JQ, and Richard Pike from PVT, Forgiveness casts a wide net on their debut LP Next Time Could Be Your Last Time. With influences ranging from 70s era jazz to 80s sophisti-pop to contemporary modern classical, Last Time packs a lot of ideas into a relatively compact offering. However, they never lose focus of their songcraft: tracks like the single ‘Dying In Eden’ are tranquil without ever truly blending into the background, there’s always more than enough moving parts to consistently captivate.
