After a lengthy hiatus from his Gimmik alias, Martin Haidinger returned in 2019 with a newfound prolific output, now on his fourth full length release since rebooting the project. Sonic Poetry injects colour back into Gimmik’s world, filled with signal bending microbeats and chirping melodies. While much of the album is light and airy ‘Waves’ provides some refuge from the more ecstatic tracks with its calm, blossoming piano, before entering the almost 11 minute ‘Liquid Reality (Parts I+II)’, whose acidic lead races along upbeat rhythms before frozen walls of pads usher in a downtempo, sub-zero atmosphere.
