Berlin-based sound artist Hüma Utku follows 2019’s Gnosis with an even more ambitious piece of conceptual work entitled The Psychologist. As a voracious student of electronic music and a graduate of Psychology, titling her sophomore album The Psychologist is not a reference to some inherent personal nature, but a bold promise to intertwine her two professional paths into a coherent statement on the human condition. Infused with some recordings of Buchla 200 from her Elektronmusikstudion residency in October 2020, Utku uses a balance of experimental techno, electroacoustic sound, spoken word, and modern classical to detail all sorts of psychological phenomena.
