Almost a year after their last release, 99CHANTS presents the next “chant” in their series: a remix package for Equations Collective’s The Helicon Sessions. Originally recorded on Mount Helicon in Greece, these remixes dive even further into the source material’s sense of ancience and ritualism. Pioneering electronic composer Lena Platonos joins with Equations Collective’s Yiorgos Konstantoulakis for their ‘Reconstruction’, a soundbath of stormy, gravelly field recordings and shimmering synths, and a poetic monologue in Platonos’s native Greek tongue. Rabih Beaini’s ‘Deconstruction’ meanwhile takes place in an 808 drum circle, trance inducing rhythms accreting and intensifying as the track progresses.
