The young New York producer umru has made quite a dent in a very limited time. With credits on tracks from Charli XCX to Dorian Electra, as well as a burgeoning rep as a DJ, umru has quickly put his stamp on the experimental pop scene. His latest solo project for PC Music comfort noise functions much like a mixtape then, eschewing cohesion while showcasing the many sides of his sound and his innate ability to bring the best out of collaborators. Tracks as diverse as the trunk-rattling ‘check1’ with Tommy Cash and 645AR and the helium boosted ‘heart2’ with Petal Supply and Rebecca Black speak to umru’s ability to pull any kind of pop sound into his own orbit.
