Bleep

After an unbelievably prolific few years, Maltese electro producer Keith Farrugia returns with another round of retro-futurist, bass-heavy cuts. Motor Space Maps’ title track opens the set on vintage Atari-worthy bleeps before revealing a monstrous low end to add some hi-fi intensity to the 8-bit simulation. ‘Modulation’ and ‘EMC’ grounds things in the present with some hard-hitting electro, but the EP’s highlights seem to relish the nostalgia. With its hazy vocoder intro, it seems like ‘Back In Time’ is set down a path of disco revival before Farrugia issues a syrupy synth bassline that hits regardless of era or genre.
