Adrian Sherwood’s pioneering On-U Sound label reissue four albums from psychedelic dub ensemble African Head Charge. Formed in the 1980s around percussionist Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah and Adrian Sherwood, African Head Charge take both their name and their inspiration from Brian Eno and David Byrne’s seminal album My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts, taking the concept of ‘psychedelic Africa’ to new places. On their 1983 album Drastic Season, the duo experiment with loose, off-the-beat rhythms and endless tape edits to take their sound to the outer limits.
